Rocky Mountain Children’s Discovery Center is family owned by Sharyl Boehm and Cheryl Gould. We have been in operation since September 1995.

Rocky Mountain Children’s Discovery Center is nationally accredited through NAEYC, National Accreditation Education of the Young Child. This accreditation is reviewed annually and involves strict criteria to maintain accreditation.

We use several tools to promote quality in our program. One tool is Qualistar. Qualistar Early Learning is a statewide non-profit organization working with child care providers, parents, and communities to improve the quality of early childhood education in Colorado.

Curriculum:

We use several different types of curriculum here. The main focus is centered around the Creative Curriculum approach. The philosophy behind this curriculum is that young children learn best by doing. Learning isn’t just repeating what someone says; it requires active thinking and experimenting to find out how things work and learn firsthand about the world we live in. With this curriculum the environment within the classroom drives the learning of the children. This curriculum identifies goals in all areas of development. These areas are social, emotional, cognitive and physical.

Child Assessment:

Rocky Mountain Children’s Discovery Center measures child’s development growth through many different tools such as Teaching Strategies Gold. These tools are ongoing throughout the school year. Teaching Strategies Gold records developmental progress of your child through observations. RMCDC invites parents to receive parent/teacher conferences to discuss their child’s assessment results twice a year and any time one is requested.
